The pending CBSE board exams for class 12 were supposed to be held from July 1 to July 15 but the rising number of coronavirus cases in the country made parents, students and even teachers very apprehensive for the safety of students and their families.
After a group of parents approached the apex court for the same, Supreme Court gave the ORDER TO CANCEL the pending CBSE exams because of the safety issue that is going to be created due to the rising Covid-19 cases.
JEE main news
Unlike the CBSE board exams, the JEE Main exam is even more crucial when it comes to the careers of students if they want to become engineers. The JEE Main is currently scheduled between July 19 and July 23.
Students and parents have taken to Twitter calling for the exam to be cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
However, the National Testing Agency (NTA) which is the conducting the JEE main exam is yet to take a decision on the matter.
Certain alternatives also being thought of such as conducting JEE Main online or in a phased manner to tackle the social distancing issue during the pandemic and avoid crowding at exam centres.
More would be known once HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal makes the announcement regarding the final decision taken on CBSE, JEE Main and NEET in light of what the SC ordered for CBSE exams.
NEET news
Just like JEE, NEET is a crucial exam for the careers of students and is conducted all over India for admission to medical colleges. The NEET entrance exam is currently scheduled for July 26.
Concerned parents and students have called for both JEE and NEET to be cancelled but NTA which also conducts the NEET exam is yet to take a final call.
The matter of whether NEET will be postponed or cancelled or carried out online will be clearer once Ramesh Pokhriyal makes the announcement expected today.
Some states have even requested for JEE and NEET to be cancelled completely for this year and instead carry out college admissions using class 12 marks.
ICSE news
As per the latest ICSE exam news, the ICSE class 10 exams and ISC class 12 exams have been made optional after a petition had been filed at the Bombay High Court calling for a cancellation of the ICSE exams across Maharashtra which has seen the highest number of Covid-19 cases in India.
The board then told the court that the ICSE exams were going to be optional for students of classes 10 and 12 across the country because of the coronavirus pandemic.
It said that all ICSE affiliated schools would have to contact their class 10 and class 12 students and note down whether they wanted to appear for the ICSE board exams or not. The choices would need to be sent in by the school by June 22.
Those students who were choosing not to appear for the ICSE exams would be assessed on the basis of their internal marks or that received in the pre-board exams.
